Wizzard! Rehearsal Rooms was located in Bowen Hills, approximately 2km north of the CBD of Brisbane, Australia. The business had 12 rooms of various sizes, 10 of which were offered on a semi-permanent (long-term) basis, with the other 2 rooms available for session hire. One of these session rooms featured a full size, 9 foot Chappell grand piano.
The business was established in its current location in 2003 by Adam Ducquet, who operated it under the name Fortune Music. He sold the operation to Mitchell Booth early in 2004, and it was controlled by Mitch for a number of months under his own name.
Toward the middle of 2004, d-Wizz was invited to assist with the accounting and general financial affairs of the business. The situation was quickly assessed, and the recommendation of forming a company was discussed. This resulted in Wizzard! Rehearsal Rooms Pty. Ltd. being incorporated and registered with ASIC on 2004-08-18. Wizzard! officially commenced trading operations on 2004-09-01 - on this date, all of Mitchell's interests in the business were transferred to the corporate structure.
Wizzard! has two directors:
With both directors heavily involved in their own musical projects, they understand the needs of bands and artists to be able to walk in and start practising with a minimum of setting up or pulling down. Wizzard! allows bands to leave their equipment set up just they way they like it, so it really is a case of "rock up and rock on". The directors themselves also used the session room to facilitate their various muscial interests.
In July, 2010, Wizzard! began offering digital multitrack recording services for its clients.
Wizzard! officially ceased trading on 10 August 2013.
